Flooring Renovations

Every home needs a makeover especially if it has been years since the last repairs and renovations are done. As I did a little walk through around the house, I start to check on the areas that might need some new look or replacements.

With the garage being one of the busiest areas, I noticed the chipped and damaged floors; not only do they look unattractive but it can also damage the car tires and pose a threat for kids. Immediately I asked the helped of friends and did a little online search and found floorjunkies.com for garage flooring tiles that carries a variety of choices. I'm still thinking if I should hire a contractor to finish this job or if the repairs can be a DIY project for the weekend.

How to Handle Tantrums

Young kids are incredibly lovely and sweet but everything is not perfect. Even if you claim to have the most behaved child, they too will have their bad days. Tantrums are a way for kids especially toddlers to express their emotions. This can be manifested in different forms such as screaming and non stop crying while there are some kids who experience severe tantrum episodes to the point of throwing toys and biting.

As a parent, how do you handle this type of behavior? It is very important to understand the reason behind the tantrums. Is it out of frustration? You might be surprised that some kids would throw a fit simply because they are hungry. In the case of toddlers, they can't very well communicate their thoughts and emotions and one way that they can express themselves or get the attention of their parents is by having tantrums.

Understand your child's behavior. There are some cases that you might give in to their request in order for them to stop crying but this should not always be the case. Explain to them why you can't always give in to their every request and if punishment is needed make sure that they understand the reason why they had to receive it.

One Love

I just love our ONE LOVE white t shirt during the 2nd Anniversary of Project PEARLS . It is so refreshing to see everyone in white shirts since we are usually wearing our black shirts every Saturday. Blessings were overflowing. We had spaghetti, Fried chicken, milk drink and rice meals , plus of course Breadtalk treats. It was a very humbling experience to be with Project PEARLS. I'm looking forward to more Saturdays with our volunteers and our children.

Volunteer and Make a Difference!

Ulingan is a small slum community in Tondo, Manila that sits on a dumpsite and surrounded by charcaol factories that emit toxic smoke; there is no electricity, no access to toilets or sanitation. Children and families have no choice but to live with soot, garbage, mosquitoes, flies, vermin all day and all night. Children as young as three-year olds work in the charcoal factory to help their families. The common meal is "pagpag"(leftover food from fast-food restaurants scavenged from garbage sites) "Pagpag" means to shake away the dirt and maggots in the food.
