Festive Memories Shared

So, as the holidays approach I've been thinking back over the years to try and come up with my best festive memory.

There are so many to choose from. As a child nothing came close to the excitement of waking up extra early on Christmas morning to find a stuffed stocking at the foot of my bed, creeping down the hall to my parents' room and sitting on their bed delightedly unwrapping gifts as they attempted to drag themselves into a state of consciousness to face the festivities ahead.

In my early twenties, working as a chalet girl in the French Alps, there was a magical quality to spending the Christmas period up in the mountains, despite having to prepare meals and look after my guests. When my duties were done and I could join my friends by an open fire to sip mulled wine and toast to the season while looking out of the window at a beautiful snowscape, I felt like one of the luckiest people alive.

And then there was the Christmas that my sweetheart chose to ask me to become his wife. We were in our first apartment, eating our turkey off a packing box because the furniture store had failed to deliver our dining table in time for the festive season. When he pulled out that Tacori box and showed me the ring I thought I would just burst.

More recently my Christmases have been lit by the smiles of my son as he discovers the magic of the festive season for himself. While these days I am the one wrapping the gifts and stuffing the stocking, I still find myself straining my ears for the sound of sleigh bells as Christmas Eve draws on. It's such a magical time of year and am excited to think there are so many memories still to be made.

Different Ways to Celebrate Motherhood

Whether it's right at birth or sometime after wards, mother's jewelry is a great way to celebrate being a mother. There are a variety of different types of jewelry, some with small diamonds and some without, all created to celebrate being a mother, and it can be added to over the years as new children come along. There are charm bracelets, mother's rings, photo lockets, and engraved or lettered jewelry. If you want a way to show how much your children mean to you, mother's jewelry says it all.

Charm Bracelets

These are fun because you can use all kinds of different charms to signify the birth of a baby. Little baby shoes are cute as so are hearts. You can get charms that dangle on bracelets or put them on a necklace to wear them close to your heart.

Mother's Rings

These rings have the birthstones of all the children on them. It can make for unusual color combinations and a great conversation starter. Birthstones embedded in jewelry are an excellent way to celebrate children in your life, without having to use symbols. You can even add a few diamonds to really bring out the sparkle while using the birthstones to signify the children in your life. The meaning can be as public or as private as you want it to be.

Photo Lockets

Lockets that are worn on bracelets or pendants can keep tiny photos of your children close by. As your children grow up, you can keep their baby pictures there or you can update them with a recent photo. You can even use it for grandchildren, when they arrive, too.

Engraved or Lettered Jewelry

The names of your children are special and can be used to create sentimental jewelry pieces. You can engrave initials or use lettered beads to spell out the entire name of a child. Whatever you choose, it's a way to be clear that your children mean the world to you.
