Scopes for my boy

My son's passion in Astronomy is really inspiring. Lately, we have been reading a lot of kiddie astrology books and watching some videos about the planets. It has also been a great bonding tool between him and his dad. My son really wanted to have a telescope but i find it really expensive . Besides I am not really sure if he will pursue Astronomy in the future so I am hesitant to get him one. As a replacement, my husband got him a bushnell spotting scope . My son was really happy to see a lot of things in a close range now. Sometimes at night, I would see him looking at the moon through his scopes. If he will show more passion in Astronomy in the future, I might get him a telescope as a Christmas gift.
