Celebrating 70th Birthday

My mom is turning 70 this year and exactly 4 months from now is her birthday. Since this is her 70th birthday this calls for a celebration. My sisters agreed to organize a big party for her. We are planning to celebrate her birthday in a hotel, since this is a big celebration. I also asked my sister if she has any plans of giving her a gift, I then proposed that we just chip in to buy a more expensive gift. Since, my mom likes jewelries, a friend asked me to check at www.reeds.com/designer-jewelry/Honora-cat41.html. My mom will definitely love & at the same time will be surprised in her birthday.

Proud Moment

During the monthly performance of my kid at his school, we were able to bring 4 different instruments at school. The three instruments were guitar, bass guitar and an organ, which were rented to us by our co-parents at their school. Since my kid was the drummer we were tasked to bring the drum set at school. We even bought dollies since we have to many instruments to carry. As a parent we were proud that my kid is already playing in a big crowd.

Just Strolling

Our family went for a stroll at the nearby mall last week. We ate our lunch there and after that we decided to just walk and do window shopping. Suddenly, my kid saw this music store in which he asked me to join him to a quick tour. The music store offers various musical instrument and they have a great ukulele sale during that time also. Since I didn't have some cash with me I just used my Visa card to pay for the ukelele which will be a gift for his grand dad he said.

Time Flies

This is the picture of my Son, playing the drums when he was 3. Time surely flies...can't wait for the 1st gig of my son.

A Dining Room Make Over

This year we are planning to have our dining room to have a major make over, starting with the dining table of course. Our dining table was bought about 8 years ago and just last year the one foot was badly damaged by the flood. So, one trip to the Mall and we already bought our new dining table for this year. Then a friend of ours suggested a black economy table skirting just to ensure of a major make over for this year, as i checked this table skirting it was more appropriate for a function setting table in which it is great for my Uncle's Catering business.

Next in line will be major repainting of that area.

New Year, Fit Year

After all the buffets, lunch & Dine out last holiday season. It's time to burn all those calories. I have enrolled myself in a gym class just to burn these calories. One of my buddies that were enrolled at the gym is talking about detoxification, this is cleansing the body. He is referring us to this las vegas rapid detox center in which can help us detoxify fast.

I think this is a good start for this New year. Being healthy & staying healthy is our top priority for this year. No to high calories & high cholesterol foods that will affect our health.

New York, New York!

Vacation time is drawing near. We are now planning to have our vacation in New York the Big Apple this December. Since my kid and I are big fans of the Knicks, we are planning to see them at The Madison. Our friends there also looking forward to our visit since it's been years that we last saw each other. But our friends also warned us that during this time of the year we must expect that we will have a very, very cold weather. Thus we must pack our winter clothes also our electric gloves which are very helpful to keep us warm.

I believe this will be a another great vacation for our family.

Music and Kids

So the kids are excited with the start of another school year and I am really not that excited because that would mean I would have to get up early to prepare them. Just in time, their summer lessons ended last weekend and I am happy with all the developments and music learning that they have. They will surely continue with the lessons every weekend to make sure that there is continuity and practice as well. My son is already asking me when will we buy a few accessories of his drum kit , I just told him to do good with his lessons and I'll surprise him with this gift. Well, this boy is really gifted with music. I won't be surprised if he will ask me to get a hagerty silver polish. Im so happy that my kids enjoy their music lessons. Now that the school days are here, they need to balance their schedule on weekends. 

Guitar Boy

Two weeks ago, my son and I went to a music fest together with some of our friends. They know how much my son loves music so they personally invited him to witness some performances of different genres and at the same time check out some trade booth that offers almost anything about music. Aside from drums, he is really interested with guitar so I told him that once he's really good with drums, then he can switch to guitars. We will surely buy brian may guitars at musicians friend!

Well, if you will ask me if he enjoyed the music fest, that would be a big yes ! he looks forward to attend more events like this and concerts of his favorite artists.

More home renovations

We are looking for more ways on how we can maximize our humble abode and it seems that the best thing to do , budget - wise is to have some renovations one at a time. We cannot fully finance big renovation project here, so for now, we are good with taking things slow and we focus on which one needs repairs the most. This year, we will fixing our living room which is the one greatly affected by the flood last year. When heavy knee deep flood hit our home, most of our walls got paint and wood panels so we decided to have it replaced now. Look at these classroom art ideas! Wow, I like them all. 

We are in the process of setting up designs for our new classroom at the relocation site and I find Pinterest very helpful now.  The door design is so colorful and inspiring to the kids as well. We will also have a wall mural to be sketched by one of our youth volunteers! This is getting exciting for all of us. It has been our dream to establish a pleasant classroom in the area where the kids  will have fun as they learn! 

Hello Friday

It’s been a while since me and my husband went to a restaurant bar to watch a performance. Tonight, we are invited to a birthday concert by one of our Pearls supporters and I feel excited to finally go out and have some fun. This show will benefit the Scholarship Program of Project Pearls for the relocated children in Bulacan. They are already setting up the venue this early, doing some sound check along with all the instruments and the Pedalboards.

 I wish him a very Happy Birthday and all the best on his fundraiser birthday show!

Workout time !

I rarely check my weight because I always get disappointed. Last week, I dont know what has gotten into me when I stepped on that weighing scale! There, I found out that I am at my heaviest now. Well, except for the time that I am pregnant of course. I really need to religiously follow a workout routine. I was on a good start last month but I got a little lazy lately and started to eat anything I want too. This is not getting any good physically. Of course I would want a healthier me by the end of the month.  So I will be more strict this time , do my exercise and cut down my food intake and eat healthy  too. I am getting myself some workout clothes ( I dont think I will need a plus size sports bra already) to get me on the roll! Wish me luck, i need that.

Daddy the Handyman

Having your dad around the house means you have a handyman who can certainly fix everything for you in no time ! My dad was away for 8 years so I already forgot how it feels to have him around. But since last year that he moved here, anything that needs to fixed were done in a jiffy. Whenever he is not doing anything with his grand kids, he will fix some broken doors, cabinets and water pipes. If he is not fixing anything , then he will do other things like wood works! Now i know what to give him on Father's Day. He may also want some swivel pads, what do you think?

I am so grateful to have him , not because I have a handyman around but because I missed him so much. Its the best time to catch up.

Cigar Lighters and other Father's Day gift ideas

In just a few weeks away, we will be celebrating Father's day! As early as now , I am looking for some possible gift ideas for my dad and my husband. Just like every year, I always try to look for new gifts for my dad but I always end up with the common things that I find practical and useful in his everyday life. If only he is a smoker, I would have given him cigar lighters. But so far , I am thinking of getting him any of the following:

- a leather belt
- messenger bag for his everyday errands
- an iPad

He is not into any gadgets so I might as well introduce it to him. What do you think?

Insoles for running

Finally , me and my husband are starting out with our Healthier Lifestyle this 2013. Well, we have to admit that we are not getting any younger and that we need to be more fit and eat healthy if we want to enjoy more in life. I am planning to consult a nutritionist so we can address what is best for us especially my husband now has Diabetes.

On the other hand , we will also be doing rounds of exercises with friends , like running. We have rubber shoes already but a trainer suggested we get insoles for running too! This will make running easier and would avoid some injuries too.
